| Jocelyn resides in Ontario, Canada, with her husband and 2 children. She has been a successful portrait artist since 1992. Presently, her time is divided between working outside the home, leisure painting and commissioned portraits. Please feel free to reach out to Jocelyn if you are considering having a portrait done. Jocelyn's work falls naturally into the traditional realistic style of painting yet remains painterly. Shadows, light, textures and shape and the relationships that develop between those elements are what draw her to a subject or scene. Bringing what is visually thrilling to her, to her viewers, is one of her main goals in painting. Having always been instinctually driven since a very early age, towards spending time creating, drawing and painting, Jocelyn decided to seriously pursue an art related career at age 15. She applied to and was accepted by George S. Vanier S.S. in North York, Ontario which had a vocational arts program. From there, Jocelyn applied and was accepted into The Ontario College of Art and Design, from which she graduated in 1989. She pursued illustration but was soon busy accepting portrait commissions. Jocelyn prefers to work from her own reference material for her personal portrait pieces. This allows her to paint anyone she has a passion to portray but who may be unable to sit for a full portrait from life. Most of her personal portraits are destined for the few juried shows she enters each year. With already 8 years of solid life drawing during High School and College, as well as occasional present attendence to open life drawing sessions as an OCAD alumni, Jocelyn continues to develop her figure observing and drawing skills. This adds greatly to her good visual memory and is one of the main ingredient for her success at being able to work with and beyond her reference material. Jocelyn has been able to make a successful career working with clients' reference material, to provide them with a unique portrait they will love and own for generations to come.
